PHOENIXES
rise from your ashes. begin again.
What is a Phoenix? Many people still believe that these creatures are nothing but legends and fairy tails dreamed up. Yet, they are very real. For as rare as their kind may be, they walk among us; powerful either in human or bird form. Even though their existence has become public, they are still very secretive about their own kind, many choosing to keep their identities a secret despite the publicity.
» PHOENIX CRY.
The phoenix has its own unique sound which is often mistaken for the sound of a Red-Tailed Hawk scream. It has a loud booming sound which vibrates through you and is a clear warning of their approach.
» REBIRTH.
The immortality of a phoenix is very different from all other supernaturals in this world. Unlike them, the phoenix does not just live forever. The longevity of a phoenix is 1,000 years. They do age slowly, and upon reaching their final days they will explode into flames and their bodies will burn to ash. The phoenix does not feel pain and quite naturally are tuned into when their time is coming near. They accepted their faith. From this ash, they are reborn again in order to repeat the cycle of growth and death again.
» MATING.
When a phoenix mates it does so forever. What exactly does it mean to be a mate as a phoenix? Love, for a phoenix to actually love they will love forever. With any love, there are consequences to this.
» Phoenix & Phoenix
A phoenix and phoenix will typically mate for life. Phoenixes tend to get so attached to their mates that moving on after the other dies is typically very difficult, so much so that some never do. With this in mind, a phoenix pregnancy will last about 5 months and their emotion,s unlike with humans, will be more chaotic and out of control. When a female is pregnant, her ability to shift is stripped from her until the birth of the child. During the end of the term, both mother and child will be wrapped in flames and turned to ash. From the ashes, the mother will rise appearing just as she had before she was burned but instead, with the newborn embraced in her arms.
» Phoenix & Other Species
The relationship between a phoenix with something of an another species is quite possible but just like any other mate, phoenixes tend to get so attached to their mates that moving on after the other dies is typically very difficult, so much so that some never do. The mating of phoenixes to other species is typically frowned upon by other phoenixes simply because they do not live as long as phoenixes do typically. This is almost certainly setting the phoenix up for a great heartbreak.
*****Unlike a normal pregnancy, a pregnancy between a phoenix and non-phoenix can produce a child but the child will always be born human and their maternal term is the normal 9 months. A human pregnant by a phoenix will carry and bring to term like any other human pregnant. A pregnant phoenix will carry for 9 months and give birth through flames but the child will be human.
» STRENGTHS & POWERS.
» Inhuman Strength --//
Unlike a human, the phoenix is incredibly strong and their strength goes up as they age. However compared to dragons, phoenixes are not as physically strong, but are generally faster.
» Regeneration --//
Phoenixes have the ability to heal quickly unlike a human. Small minor cuts can heal instantly where deeper wounds may take a few hours. A phoenix can regenerate to full health from most non-fatal injuries.
» Shapeshifting --//
Unlike a were, the phoenix can change between human and bird instantly without difficulty. Though keep in mind, if shifting while you're still dressed, your clothing will not survive.
» Immortality --//
As explained above regarding the longevity of a phoenix.
» Inhuman Speed --//
Phoenixes are typically faster than they are strong and are arguably the fastest of all the species when in their true forms. In these forms it is nearly impossible to catch them through old fashioned chases.
» WEAKNESSES.
» Decapitation --//
This is the easiest and simplest way to kill a phoenix. Remove the head of anything and it will die.
» Iron --//
Much like silver to a vampire, when a phoenix comes in skin-to-skin contact with iron, it will burn them. Too much or prolonged exposure, holds the risk of killing them but it will have to be a lot of iron in order to accomplish this. The pain is immense.
» Demon Blood --//
The blood of a demon basically works like acid against a phoenix. If it comes in contact with the skin, it begins to cause a burning rash and slowly eats away at the flesh. If it is accidentally ingested, then it will burn from the inside out. Small, minor exposure won't kill them but it will hurt like hell; prolonged or too much may cause a 'Erosive' reaction.
» Erosive --//
This means that with too much damage being done to the body of a phoenix, the body will break down. It will cause the phoenix to self incinerate into ash and literally go through a rebirth process.
» Human Forms --//
Like Dragons, a Phoenix's human form is weaker than their true forms, and when killed in human form they shift back to birds, making it vital they are not caught unawares by hunters.
*******Protozoans Parasites - basically affects the cells of the respiratory and intestinal tracts, causing symptoms which are closely related to the Avian Flu. It's treatable but the process takes time and leaves them uncomfortable.
