Centuries of petty squabbles between angels and demons has finally apexed with all-out war. Abaddon and a daunting following of demons from all layers launched an attack on the gates of heaven, and the resulting conflict rocks the world in ways new and catastrophic. Most angels are called home to protect the gates, practically conscripted to fight a battle to protect the souls in the grounds of the holy afterlife. Most demons choose to join the archdemon and his following in the onslaught - though some choose to duck their heads and avoid the conflict in favour of their own goals.
While the realms clashed and an epic, on-going struggle between angels and demons ensued, the sheer energy from such a battle rocked all the realms in a way unlike to anything the world has ever seen before. In the mortal realm, natural disasters occurred in spades. There were earthquakes, catastrophic storms, tsunamis, eruptions - countless lives were lost in a slew of unprecedented disasters. Time bent strangely around the conflict, some people vanished without a trace, sent forwards or backwards and could not be followed. On the mortal plain, the strange series of events and disappearances happened blurringly quick - it lasted only two weeks, but did unprecedented, inexplicable damage. However, the war wages on in neighbouring realms: angels become increasingly rare while they are summoned to protect the home front, while rogue demons duck their heads and ignore the fighting to go about their own business: understanding they take the risk of being punished by warmongers or participating archdemons if they are discovered.
In the aftermath, there are few certainties: what angels there were seem to have vanished, the demons that remain seem fewer than they were, many thousands have disappeared without an explanation and many more have died. The question now is what comes next, and what else in the world has the blight changed?
