In the present day, supernatural creatures have revealed their existance and struggle for acceptance. Supernaturals from all over the world flock to the UK for the basic rights and freedoms all should be allowed. As a result, the British countries have become forerunners in adjusting to a world where creatures of myth live like anybody else, with much of Europe slowly attempting to follow in their footsteps.
Vampires are creatures who were once humans but were changed by another who had the vampiric plague. Vampirism is considered to be an incurable virus that is transmitted by a combination of a bite and the creator's blood being consumed by the human.
There are many effects that come along with vampirism:
» VIRUS SYMPTOMS. » Blood Thirst --// As with any virus, it wishes to be transmitted. Vampires (especially the younger ones) have the problem of wanting to bite into anyone or anything, especially when they have little will power. This has resulted in the popular belief that vampires are blood thirsty and uncontrollable creatures. » Heightened Senses --// Vampires normally have a very keen sense of smell and sight, as well as improved speed. The older the vampire, the more heightened its senses become due to the virus changing its host's body. » Aversion to Sunlight --// For some unknown reason, Vampires have an aversion to sunlight. They cannot stand to be in direct sunlight for more than five minutes, else they'll burst into flames. » Immortality --// Vampires are immortal once they've had the virus for three months. By that time, the virus has taken over enough for immortality to be in place. During these three months, vampires go through a slow metamorphosis into a more beautiful, predatory state. However, they are relatively weak during this quarter year because they have the least amount of heightened senses while still having the most amount of blood thirst in comparison to those who've been coping with the virus longer. The newly bitten appear to be very human and feel as though they've contracted an incredibly painful debilitating disease but their blood thirst tends to drive them from their bed ridden state.
» TRANSFORMATION. » How It's Done --// Two circumstances must be met in order for a human to be transformed into a vampire. The first requirement is that the vampire that intends to change the human must bite the human. No amount of blood is required to be drawn but the skin must be pierced by the fangs. The virus is then transmitted as a dormant form of itself that survives for six months. In order for the virus to awaken, the creator that bit the human must allow the human to consume some of its blood. The virus is then awakened and the transformation begins. » Three Months to Eternity --// During the first three months, Vampires look much like ill humans. Weak, pale, and pained, the victims often feel like they're experiencing one of the strangest illnesses they've ever had. Those who are older may notice wrinkles fading and a loss of arthritis the closer they are to the end of the first three months. It's always very subtle differences but the change is noticeable if one pays enough attention to what's happening. Vampires are at their weakest at this stage though, simply because they are quite human and are even more sluggish than most because of the pain that comes with the virus' development. » Dormant Virus --// When a vampire only bites a human, the human does not become a vampire but is injected with a dormant form of the virus. This form of the virus is unique to the original biter. This means that no matter how many vampires bite the human afterwards, the dormant virus injected by the original remains in the blood stream for six months. Another vampire may not change the human bitten by giving the human its blood. » Marking --// The dormant virus is often used as a way of marking territory. Other vampires are able to detect the Marker within the human due to the new pheromones the human releases. The human is incapable of noticing this slight change but creatures such as vampires, werewolves, and other species with a keen sense of smell can pick up on it.
» APPEARANCE & PHYSIOLOGY. » Physical Appearance --// After the first three months, Vampires will find themselves to be 'perfected'. Aside from their unnaturally pale skin, they are beautiful enchanting creatures that give them the ability to lure in their human prey. They refer to this as glamour. All vampires have fangs that are retractable. However, both their fangs tend to protrude and their irises tend to darken when they find themselves under emotional stress such as being hungry, angry, afraid, aroused, and/or stressed. They do have a heart beat and give off body heat, contrary to popular belief. » Consumption of Blood --// The only thing that sates the virus induced blood thirst is the consumption of blood. The more blood, the better. The rarer the blood, the tastier. Animal blood may be used, but it results in side effects such as fatigue, discomfort, vomiting, and a general feeling of disgust due to the fact that animal blood is just... no where near as appetizing. Human food will be violently rejected from a vampire's system. Drinks can be consumed, including those with alcohol content. » Vampire's Blood --// Vampire blood has euphoric, hallucinogenic effects on those who consume it, especially humans. It's highly addictive and there tends to be a major 'crash' once the effects have worn off. Humans that do not have a Marker may consume as much vampire blood as they please.
» STRENGTHS. » Heightened Senses. Vampires have incredibly heightened senses. All the better to track you down and drain you, my dear! This includes improved vision, smelling, and hearing. » Speed & Strength. With enhanced speed and strength, Vampires are more than capable of handling most mortals. However, against other creatures they must rely more exclusively on their speed. » Regenerative Abilities. Pretty much self explanatory. Most vampires are healed from normal wounds by the end of the day at most. Yeah. Bullet to the chest, no prob! Only when the wound is caused by one of their weaknesses do they need to be concerned. » Powers/Abilities. Vampires may have one psychic ability, you're free to pick one but try to keep it balanced. we have a guide of registered powers HERE if you need some help with that. note: said ability does not work well if the vampire has not fed.
» WEAKNESSES.
» Puncturing the Heart. A stake to the heart is guaranteed death to a vampire! This results in their bodies violently exploding. Messy but fun! Bullets to the heart work well when coated in the right materials but it's not always foolproof. » Sunlight. Remaining in the sunlight for longer than five minutes results in a flaming ball of death! » Fire. Vampires are highly... flammable. Not that they'll light on fire if they run their hand over a candle or anything but if you can trap them in a manner in which you can easily light them ablaze, then they'll roast like a turkey. » Silver. When silver comes in contact with the skin it can result in almost acid like burns. So, just imagine being cut by a silver knife or shot with a silver bullet. It not only hurts but scars. » Invitation Only. Vampires may not enter a household without permission. If this is ignored? Blood drains right from the pores in their skin till they exit or bleed out. » Blood Starvation. If a vampire does not consume blood, it will eventually turn into what's known as a 'Jack'. The virus 'hijacks' all control of their body and they will turn into a creature that's only vaguely humanoid. They retain all abilities of a vampire with their heightened strength and speed but they are a killing machine and have no control over their own thought processes. Thus far, the Jack state is irreversible. Before a vampire reaches this state though, they experience violent urges to kill. This makes them volatile and unpredictable. They slowly grow to lack control over their own body till the virus completely takes over.

Wendigos are often something people don't like to talk about, they're the ugly step son of vampirism, though some would argue this is simply the next step in the vampiric evolutionary chain; for when the wendigo gets hungry it's after far more than just blood. Wendigos consume the flesh of their targets, they will clean victims to the bones and not think twice about it. These creatures exist in a strange limbo between the demonic and vampiric worlds, though they are NOT a hybrid many people often mistake them to be. Wendigos seem to result from a mutation on the Y chromosome that's only acted on when males are infected with vampirism. Therefore wendigos are limited to the male gender. They're often seen as the more animal/monstrous of the vampires, they're very beastly.
» PROLONGED SYMPTOMS OF THE VIRUS. » Hunger of human FLESH --// These vampires will crave human flesh after the first feeding on it, the transition between blood diet and flesh diet takes about 3 months to be completed and as time goes on over the three months, the cravings for blood slowly subside while the cravings for flesh intensify. At the end of the three month period the wendigo will undergo its first shift. The first shift lasts for 24 hours and after that a wendigo is free to shift as it pleases. There are rumors that the more the wendigo feeds in the first three months, the healthier it will be, it is also likely that it will live longer. Wendigos have to consume human flesh to survive, eating large amounts of other types of foods will eventually cause the beast to weaken and if the hunger is not satiated they will enter a brief coma and then die. There is no Jack stage for wendigos, just starvation and a slow death, once the coma sets in there is no turning back. » Heightened Senses --// Wendigos normally have a very keen sense of smell and sight, as well as improved speed and strength. Wendigos tend to be slower than their vampire brothers, but beat them easily in strength. The older the wendigo, the more heightened its senses become due to the virus changing its host's body even after the mutation. » Aversion to Sunlight --// For some unknown reason, Vampires have an aversion to sunlight. They cannot stand to be in direct sunlight for more than five minutes, else they'll burst into flames. The exact same goes for wendigos, they hate the sun and the sun hates them too. How sweet. » Longevity --// The wendigo mutation is fairly new, it is uncertain if the beasts are truly immortal like their vampire predecessors or not, though it is quite obvious that they will live for a very, very long time. Their longevity, like sirens, is linked directly to how frequently they feed.
» TRANSFORMATION. » How It's Done --// In order to become a wendigo a few things have to fall into place. For one, you need to have a y chromosome, sorry ladies, this one's for the fellas. The reason being is that the wendigo gene is in fact a strange mutation of a gene expressed on the y chromosome that happens when the male body is infected with a certain strain of vampirism. The viral blood, or rather something in it, triggers the mutation. The next thing is, well, you need to be infected by that certain strain, once that strain of the virus enters the male body and contaminates the chromosome, after an incubation of 6 months or so, the infected vampire might notice they crave flesh rather than blood. They can choose to ignore this craving, but it will never really go away. It's bearable, but the mutation will not trigger until the host eats the flesh of a human that they were loved by, betrayed by, or trusted by. The transformation takes three months, just like the initial vampire infection, while the host shifts off of their blood diet and onto the flesh diet. After the three months, they will shift for the first time and stay shifted for 24 hours before they are allowed to shift freely. » Eternity? Not quite --// The wendigo mutation is fairly new, it is uncertain if the beasts are truly immortal like their vampire predecessors or not, though it is quite obvious that they will live for a very, very long time. Their longevity, like sirens, is linked directly to how frequently they feed. It is estimated that if a wendigo stayed properly nourished it could live forever, but it's just speculation. All that is really known is that some of the first instances of the monster are still alive. » Origin of the Mutation --// This unique strain of vampirism comes directly from Dracula himself. Due to the unique nature of Dracula's transformation by demonic dealings, his blood, his entire body, was turned into a carrier for something Magdela wasn't willing to reveal to the vampire. His male 'offspring' would be cursed through the mutation. The females were simply vampires, but would act as the infectors. The males would become something demonic. It was the demon's plan all along to unleash the beast like monsters onto the world through the use of a very unsuspecting host. Dracula's female progenies serve as carriers for this mutation while the males suffer the effects.
»HUMAN: The human form of a wendigo is often a normal looking human, however upon closer inspection, faint scarring can be seen on the body from the mutations rough wear on the host. Some wendigo's true forms are truly mangled looking, ribs can be exposed, though all of this is somehow hidden in the shift. These creatures still have fangs in that they can extend and retract in their human forms, they just don't use them for feedings as the other vampires do. »TRUE FORM: The true forms are truly something of nightmares, the wendigo morphs into the perfect predator upon its shift. The arms elongate, allowing the beasts quadrupedal sprinting or stalking, but it does not take away bipedal mobility from them either. The jaws and the skin in the corners of the mouth become suited for stretching open enough to accommodate the various parts of human bodies. The wendigo often look like a strange anamorphic bat creature, though some have been known to have the head of a deer in their true forms with large racks of pointed antlers. There are a large number of possibilities for the beasts, feral eyes and long, snake like tongues are a common theme. The tongue can be used as a snakes could, tasting the air and scenting for prey. These beasts may have exposed skulls, ribs, or any number of manglings, but they are always hidden when they shift into human form.
» Consumption of Flesh --// This is what keeps the monster alive. They must have a steady intake of flesh or their powers will slowly start to weaken and they will eventually slip into a coma and then die. » Wendigo Blood --// The blood of a wendigo does not have the same effect as that of a vampire. Wendigo blood is quite toxic, actually and is used widely in poisons.
» STRENGTHS. » Heightened Senses. Wendigos normally have a very keen sense of smell and sight, as well as improved speed and strength. Wendigos tend to be slower than their vampire brothers, but beat them easily in strength. The older the wendigo, the more heightened its senses become due to the virus changing its host's body even after the mutation. They still aren't quite on par with a were's senses, but they are much closer than their vampire relatives. » Speed & Strength. While wendigos are still much faster than humans, they are slower than their vampire counterparts. They are built more for quick sprinting to catch prey where as their cousins are built for long distance. They make up for that in their strength, however. Wendigos are much stronger than the vampire cousins. » Regenerative Abilities. Pretty much self explanatory. Most wendigos are healed from normal wounds by the end of the day at most. Yeah. Bullet to the chest, no prob! Only when the wound is caused by one of their weaknesses do they need to be concerned. » Stealth. Part of being a perfect predator means you're really good at sneaking up on your prey. Wendigos are damn near impossible to see unless they want you to see or hear them. » Voice Mimicry. They can mimic the voice of nearly any human they've met almost perfectly, animal sounds are also mimicked occasionally.
» WEAKNESSES.
» Puncturing the Heart. A stake to the heart is guaranteed death to a vampire and also death for a wendigo! This results in their bodies violently exploding. Messy but fun! Bullets to the heart work well when coated in the right materials but it's not always foolproof. It's no easier, if not a little harder to stab a wendigo in the heart than your basic vampire. » Sunlight. Remaining in the sunlight for longer than five minutes results in a flaming ball of death! » Fire. Like the vampires before them, wendigos will burst into flame if trapped well enough and set on fire. They will burn to death and burning is one of the few guaranteed ways to kill the wendigo. » Silver. When silver comes in contact with the skin it can result in almost acid like burns. So, just imagine being cut by a silver knife or shot with a silver bullet. It not only hurts but scars. Being shot with silver or stabbed with silver will affect them as if they were mortals. » Bones of the Victims.Weapons made of the bones of the victims of the wendigo will certainly do the killing work, but the best way to ensure death is to use bones of a betrayed victim. Stabbing a wendigo with the bones of a victim will keep it from shifting, but stabs to the heart from betrayed victims will blow the beast to mash. » Wards. Native Americans were the best acquainted with the wendigos being that they lived in the wild where these beasts preferred to be. They developed wards that seemed to keep these beasts from entering their camps and homes. » Overload. Sensitive wendigo senses can easily be overloaded, loud sounds, bright lights, and offensive smells that are powerful and prolonged enough will bring the beasts to their knees.

These unique creatures are another form of vampires transformed through a unique strain of the virus, though it's origins remain a mystery, these vampires do not feed on the blood of others, but rather the energy of another person. While many discount them as real threats, jiangshi can be just as dangerous, if not more so than their blood sucking cousins. Imagine you're on a date with someone and suddenly you just start to feel tired, profoundly tired at that, but you cannot figure out why. Eventually you find it hard to hold your head up, your eyelids are heavy and you cannot figure out why, suddenly you can't muster the coordination nor the strength to even lift your wine glass all while your date seems to be doing well, they might even look healthier than they did when the date started. These beasts are very covert with their feedings and can often do so without you even realizing it.
» BASICS. » Hunger --// They are no different than their cousins in the fact that they get hunger pains and need to feed in order to stay strong and healthy. They do not thirst for blood or hunger for flesh, they are hungry for energy. The energy of living humans, though in a pinch they can snack on electrical energy, though it's not very healthy and often times is unsatisfying. In order to feed from someone they must be within a three footradius. » Heightened Senses --// These creatures can see and hear exceptionally well. » Aversion to Sunlight --// For some unknown reason, Vampires have an aversion to sunlight. They cannot stand to be in direct sunlight for more than five minutes, else they'll burst into flames. These creatures are no different. » Immortality --// Jiangshi are immortal once they've had the virus for three months. By that time, the virus has taken over enough for immortality to be in place. During these three months, jiangshi go through a slow metamorphosis into a more beautiful, predatory state like their cousins. However, they are relatively weak during this quarter year because they have the least amount of heightened senses while still having the most amount of hunger in comparison to those who've been coping with the virus longer. The newly bitten appear to be very human and feel as though they've contracted an incredibly painful debilitating disease but their thirst tends to drive them from their bed ridden state.
» TRANSFORMATION. » How It's Done --// It's basically the same process as a regular vampire transformation, though it has to be done by another energy eater. Energy eaters can drink blood, it just does not nourish them in the same way it does a regular vampire due to the virus reacting differently to a different set of genes. The jiangshi will infect the host with a mutated strain and their progenies will almost always be energy eaters with the random vampire tossed in. » Three Months to Eternity --// During the first three months, eaters, like newly turned vampires, look much like ill humans. Jiangshi are at their weakest at this stage though, simply because they are quite human and are even more sluggish than most because of the pain that comes with the virus' development. Another vampire may not change the human bitten by giving the human its blood for those six months. Jiangshi can do this as well.
» APPEARANCE & PHYSIOLOGY. » Physical Appearance --// After the first three months, eaters will find themselves to be 'perfected'. Jiangshi fangs will often extend under the same circumstances even though they are essentially useless, they can still deliver a nasty bite. » Consumption of Energies --// The only thing that sates the mutated virus induced energy craving is the consumption of life energies. The more, the better. The rarer, the tastier. Artificial energy may be substituted, electrical energy or even energy drinks may be used, but it results in side effects such as fatigue, discomfort, vomiting, and a general feeling of disgust due to the fact that it is just... no where near as appetizing. Human food will be violently rejected from a vampire's system. Drinks can be consumed, including those with alcohol content. In order to eat energies, these creatures are equipped with a psychic ability that is a spin from power absorption in that it works the same way, instead of absorbing powers they are absorbing life energies. » Energy Eater's Blood --// The blood of an jiangshi would have the same effect on a human as chugging a six pack of Four Locos. It's extremely dangerous to consume in large doses sue to the high energy concentration, however small drops are relatively safe if not taken daily and are great for long lasting energy.
» STRENGTHS. » Heightened Senses. These creatures can see and hear exceptionally well just like their cousins. » Speed & Strength. These creatures are not as strong as their vampire brethren but holy cow are they fast. Jiangshi are much faster than their vampire cousins to make up for that hit to their strength. » Regenerative Abilities. This is directly linked to how recently it's been since they fed, but if they're well nourished, jiangshi can regenerate at the same rates as wendigos or vampires. » Life Absorption. These beasts have a nifty talent, as long as you're standing in their 3 foot radius they can engage in this, though they can only have one target at a time, they can lock onto you mentally, emotionally, and physically if they want to and literally or metaphorically suck the life out of you.
» WEAKNESSES.
» Puncturing the Heart. A stake to the heart is guaranteed death to a vampire and the same can be said for the jiangshi! This results in their bodies violently exploding. Messy but fun! Bullets to the heart work well when coated in the right materials but it's not always foolproof. » Sunlight. Remaining in the sunlight for longer than five minutes results in a flaming ball of death! » Fire. Jiangshi can be set on fire and burned to death just like their relatives. » Silver. When silver comes in contact with the skin it can result in almost acid like burns. It affects the jiangshi bodies as if they were mortals. So, just imagine being cut by a silver knife or shot with a silver bullet. It not only hurts but scars. » Invitation Only. Jiangshi may not enter a household without permission. If this is ignored? Blood drains right from the pores in their skin till they exit or bleed out. » Severe Head Trauma. Because their source of feeding is largely psychic in nature, these creatures are vulnerable to head trauma, if they are smack hard enough over the head their ability to feed properly can be halted. They would be limited to artificial energy sources, but it would not be enough to sustain them in an active lifestyle and the eater would eventually slip into the Jack state. » Energy Starvation. If a jiangshi does not consume proper amounts of energy, it will eventually turn into what's known as a 'Jack'. The jiangshi, once turned Jack, abandon the need for energy as sustenance, something flips a switch within them and they will revert to feats on blood. They will be incredibly violent, like their cousins, though they still won't be as strong they will retain their speed advantage. The virus 'hijacks' all control of their body and they will turn into a creature that's only vaguely humanoid. They retain all abilities of an eater with their strength and speed but they are a killing machine and have no control over their own thought processes. Thus far, the Jack state is irreversible.

These are the starved vampires, they are unpredictable, they are dangerous, and they are terrifying. Jacks are a subspecies of vampires that result in starving the vampire or the eater to a point where they become feral and willing to do just about anything to feed themselves. They are incredibly dangerous, they often travel in packs, and they should be avoided at all costs if you aren't equipped to deal with them.
» BASICS. » Hunger --// Jacks are blood thirsty almost constantly. No amount of feeding seems to be enough for them and they will almost constantly be searching for the next source of food. They're hunger is painful and incredibly hard to ignore. » Day in the Life of a Jack --// Jacks are required to feed more often than vampires, but they do not live their entire lives around the hunt. They do have times in between the hunt where they are free to do things that they take pleasure in. The things they take pleasure in are often not good things. They are normally very violent and volatile beings who should not be provoked, but they are very easily provoked actually. They tend to form small groups to better their chances of survival. Often when a Jack feeds they drain their victims dry, they cannot spread the virus which is why some think it kills them in the end. Jacks are not something that can be reasoned with and while they are capable of speech they often don’t have anything particularly nice to say. Jack syndrome, as of this point in time, cannot be cured. They aren’t below a normal life, it’s just… their sense of normal is different than what other beings might view as normal. » Aversion to Sunlight --// For some unknown reason, Vampires have an aversion to sunlight. They cannot stand to be in direct sunlight for more than five minutes, else they'll burst into flames. These creatures are no different.
» TRANSFORMATION. » How It's Done --// The transformation process for Jacks is relatively easy to understand. You take a vampire or an energy eater and you just keep them from feeding for about a month and you'll be well on your way to a full blow Jack. After the month of starvation it only takes the virus about two weeks to completely take over the host's brain and body. The virus continues to progress until it eventually extinguishes the host.
» APPEARANCE & PHYSIOLOGY. » Physical Appearance --// Jacks look a lot like a vampire in the first three months of the transformation, sickly and weak. They are incredibly pale, often grayish in tint, and they have dark circles around their eyes. Their fangs never retract and their eyes go completely black when they get hungry, threatened or are hunting. Jacks look fairly similar to normal vampires, just a lot sicker. » Virus Progression --// As the virus works in the Jack’s body, it eventually wears on them past the point that even the new and improved body can stand. The virus will eventually demand so much blood that the Jack can’t keep up which will result in them going on killing sprees in their last days as they desperately try to ease their hunger pains. Natural death for a Jack is a slow and painful one, many resort to suicide once they notice their hunger getting out of control in those last fleeting moments of clarity, but most of them are gunned down in the process of trying to feed once they embark on these feeding frenzies. Once a vampire becomes a full fledged Jack they only have about 2 to 5 years left to live, there is presently no cure. » Jack Blood --// Jack blood is highly toxic, ingesting the substance will have the same effect as you chugging acid.
» STRENGTHS. » Heightened Senses. These creatures can see and hear exceptionally well just like their cousins. » Speed & Strength. These creatures are not as strong as their vampire brethren nor are they as fast, they tend to use numbers to gain the upper hand in a fight. They are still faster than humans, and stronger than them too, easily. » Regenerative Abilities. This is directly linked to how recently it's been since they fed, but if they're well nourished, they can regenerate as quickly as their relatives. » Fearless. They don't really run from much and the obliviousness to fear sometimes allows them to take necessary risks to beat an opponent. They are ruthless in a fight without that inhibition.
» WEAKNESSES.
» Puncturing the Heart. A stake to the heart is guaranteed death to a vampire and the same can be said for the Jacks! This results in their bodies violently exploding. Messy but fun! Bullets to the heart work well when coated in the right materials but it's not always foolproof. » Sunlight. Remaining in the sunlight for longer than five minutes results in a flaming ball of death! » Fire. Jacks can be set on fire and burned to death just like their relatives. » Silver. When silver comes in contact with the skin it can result in almost acid like burns. It affects the Jacks bodies as if they were mortals. So, just imagine being cut by a silver knife or shot with a silver bullet. It not only hurts but scars. » Impaired Judgment. These creatures often rush into situations on whims or urges, the need to feed often sends them plunging into certain death. They don't really think rationally anymore and the decisions they make reflect this very well most of the time. » Manipulation. Jacks are relatively easy to manipulate if you have a steady supply of blood and a secure place to hold them all. They will do almost anything for food and this can be used to someone with the right mindset's advantage, a small army of Jacks, while unpredictable, can be a huge game changer in any conflict. » Pest Status. Because of their violent nature, Jacks are largely considered to be pests by just about everyone. Hunters and several other organizations have worked tirelessly to tracking these monsters down and killing them on sight. They are constantly facing the threat of elimination.
